FG Declares Thursday, Friday Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr

 

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that the announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and conveyed through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.

The minister congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan, urging them to sustain the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice.

He also called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity, and continued progress in the country.

Tunji-Ojo further encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged during the celebrations.
