The Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in Abuja has directed its officials to compile a list of serviced and vacant plots of land as well as abandoned buildings within their districts.

The FCDA gave the order to “all the sector monitors” asking them to submit the list of serviced and vacant plots of land within their districts, according to a memo seen by SaharaReporters on Monday.

The sector monitors – according to the circular by the FCDA which is under the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike – are to submit the list of the serviced and vacant plots with photograph clips.

They are to also submit a list of abandoned buildings, both completed and uncompleted within their districts with photograph clips on or before Wednesday August 30.

The memo read, “Official directives please. All sector monitors are to submit as follows: List of serviced/vacant plots within your districts with photo clips. List of abandoned buildings both completed and uncompleted within your districts with photo clips. Submission on or before 30th August 2023.”

SaharaReporters had last Monday reported that Wike threatened to demolish houses built at the wrong locations in Abuja, even if the owners of such structures were ministers or ambassadors.

The former governor had issued the threat during a press briefing held shortly after Wike and 44 others were sworn in as ministers in Abuja following their appointments by President Bola Tinubu.

According to Wike, houses built at illegal locations in Abuja to distort the city’s master plan would be demolished irrespective of the position of its owner.

Wike had said, “All those people who are distorting the masterplan of Abuja, too bad. If you know you have built where you are not supposed to build, it will go down.

“Be you a minister of anywhere, be you an ambassador, if you know you have developed where you were not supposed to develop, your house must go down. Those who have taken over the green areas to build, sorry, our parks must come back. The green areas must come back. If you hate green, you must hate yourself.”
