Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, has instituted legal proceedings against Ebeano Supermarket, H-Medix, Faxx Stores, & Bakan Gizo Pharmacy over alleged price gouging.
Tunde Irukera, CEO of the apex consumer protection agency, formerly called CPC, led his agency’s legal team in the case against the aforementioned businesses.
The first sitting held Tuesday, June 9, at the Federal High Court. At the hearing, relevant argument on jurisdiction was resolved & the Federal High Court decided to proceed with case against defendants.
Further hearing has been adjourned to June 25, 2020.
Irukera, who is also the prosecuting counsel, explained that charges were “vital to deter outrageously increasing gouging.”
