Fan Shot ead in Brazil After Chelsea Defeat Palmeiras To Win Clup World Cup

A fan of Brazilian soccer power, Palmeiras, was shot dead outside the club’s stadium Saturday February 12, following the team’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final in Abu Dhabi.

Truetells Nigeria reports that Sao Paulo police Investigator Cesar Saad told journalists a suspect was shortly arrested in connection to the shooting. He added that 15 other fans were injured in clashes with police or in fights among themselves.

The ugly events occurred in Palestra Italia street after the match ended.

According to the Police, the 42-year-old victim was shot in the thoracic region. He was in a serious condition and was transferred to the Hospital das Clínicas, but died in the medical center.

Chelsea beat Palmeiras with a penalty goal in extra time to win the Club World Cup title for the first time. It was German midfielder, Kai Havertz, who scored Chelsea’s winning goal in last season’s Champions League final, that found the net through a spot-kick.
