Selected participants will have the opportunity to attend a rigorous two-day capacity-building workshop on fact-checking and digital verification. This will be followed by a three-month mentorship and engagement programme. Beyond the mentorship programme, where fellows will be posted to selected media houses and higher institutions, and guided to produce fact-check reports; It is hoped that the project will avail participants with networking opportunities, particularly for those seeking internships or long-term employment in the media industry.
Osayande, speaking on the project, emphasised its three basic objectives: to develop ethical fact-checkers, train a new crop of journalists with a sense of ethical understanding and responsibility, and create empowerment and networking opportunities for participants.
