EU, Nigeria Pledge Stronger Cooperation on Trade and Security

TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that the European Union and Nigeria have committed to strengthening their partnership in trade, security, and strategic resources during high-level talks in Lagos.

The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, met with President Bola Tinubu on Monday at the President’s residence. The meeting was also attended by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Minister of Budget and National Planning Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that Kallas said the discussions focused on expanding collaboration in security, trade, investment, and critical raw materials, as well as enhancing cooperation on cybersecurity. She described Nigeria and the EU as “like-minded partners” and highlighted the importance of working together amid growing global geopolitical challenges.

President Tinubu, according to TRUETELLS Nigeria, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening ties with the EU and expressed appreciation for the bloc’s ongoing support.

The meeting underscores both sides’ intent to strengthen EU-Nigeria relations in addressing economic volatility and evolving security threats.
