The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has quizzed the Ogun State Accountant General, Tunde Aregbesola over alleged diversion of N10.8 billion meant for the 20 council areas in the state.
SaharaReporters gathered that four other government officials were equally quizzed on Wednesday.
The former chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Mr Wale Adedayo, had petitioned the anti-graft agency, alleging the Dapo Abiodun-led administration of diverting the funds meant for the council areas.
Following the development, the Adebayo was impeached and subsequently arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, who confirmed the quizzing of the Ogun government officials, said that nobody was detained.
“I just called our Ibadan Zonal office, and it was confirmed that some officials of the state government were invited for a chat in respect of an ongoing investigation, and they have since gone back to their state.”
“Nobody else was also detained,” he explained.
“I can only tell you that they were officials of the Ogun State government, and it was in connection with an ongoing investigation; it’s not more than that.”
