Education Sector Crumbles Under Wike As Over 300 Pupils Learn Under Fallen Roofs In Abuja Schools

The bad state of classrooms and inadequate infrastructure at the Junior Secondary School, Paikon Kore, Gwagwalada Area Council of Federal Capital Territory, FCT has forced over 300 pupils to continue learning under fallen roofs in the school.

This was disclosed on X by a popular civic tech platform, Monitor NG, while sharing pictures of the damaged classrooms in the school.

The tweet reads: “This is the situation at Junior Secondary School,Paikon Kore Gwagwalada Area Council FCT.

“Where over 336 School students learn under fallen roofs in Abuja. Parents have withdrawn their children from school since storms blew off the roofs of the only public secondary school.

“We call on @GovWike and @IretiKingibe to kindly reach out to the responsible agency to do the needful.”

This would be the sixth school in the FCT reported for poor infrastructure under the administration of Nyesom Wike, the minister of the FCT.

In April, SaharaReporters had reported how 500 pupils attending the Kuchichacha LEA Primary School in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja learned under fallen roofs with the absence of competent teachers.

This was revealed in a report issued by a popular procurement non-profit organisation, Tracka.

The organisation had said that during a visit to the school, it was discovered that residents of the community had begun to withdraw their children and wards.
