DSS Disobeys Court Order Again As Nnamdi Kanu Appears In Fendi Clothes [Photos]

Mike Ozekhome (SAN), the counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has condemned reappearance of his client in the same outfit.

Truetells Nigeria reports that Nnamdi Kanu’s trial resumed at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The IPOB leader who is facing a 15-count charge leveled against him by the Federal government appeared in the same outfit he has worn since the commencement of his trial since June 2021.

Speaking before Justice Binta Nyako,  Ozekhome challenged the DSS on why his client was not allowed to change his fendi clothes despite a court order.

He accused the security agency of preventing Kanu from receiving new clothes that were brought to him by his younger brother, Emmanuel.

“My Lord will still see the defendant in the same uniform which my lord warned against in the last proceedings,” Ozekhome said.

“It will be recalled that they had on that day alleged that he said that he preferred to wear the same cloth because it is designers.

“However, since that time, the younger brother of the defendant, his lawyer and sister have gone three times with materials for him to change, but they refused collecting them.

“So bad was it that Ejiofor had to call the Director of Legal Services and complained to him.

“The Director told him that he would do something about it, that he would contact the Director of Operations to ensure that the order was carried out.

“But since then, nothing has been done. They have not allowed him to change his clothes.”

Recall that Justice Binta Nyako had in January directed the DSS to allow Kanu to have a bath whenever he wants to, change his clothes, eat properly and practice his faith.

I don’t want to see him in these clothes again. This one is almost off-white. Also, make sure that you allow him to exercise,” she said.

DSS Bars Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyers From Entering The Courtroom

Meanwhile, some lawyers of the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu were on Wednesday prevented from gaining access to the courtroom.

This is as the Department of State Services (DSS) insisted at the resumed hearing of the Biafra agitator that only two lawyers can be allowed into the courtroom.

According to the secret police, their action is based on the directive of the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyanko who ordered that only two lawyers be granted access to the venue as Nnamdi Kanu’s trial continues.

Our correspondent gathered that Barrister Aloy Ejimakor and other lawyers who had arrived earlier before the arrival of Kanu in court were stopped at the court gate.
