Details of how IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu was arrested have emerged.
Truetells Nigeria reports that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was arrested by collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services.
This online news platform understands that Abubakar Malami, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice made the disclosure on Thursday.
The AGF said Kanu was brought back to Nigeria to continue his trial after disappearing while on bail regarding an 11-count charge against him.
The minister provided some details on how the Biafra agitator was arrested.
Malami disclosed that steps were taken by the Buhari administration to “intercept the fugitive Kanu on Sunday 27th day of June 2021.
“Nwannekaenyi Nnamdi Ngozichukwu Okwu-Kanu, born 25th day of September, 1967 at Afaraukwu, Abia State is a holder of Nigerian Passport No. A05136827 first issued 17th October 2013 at Festac, Lagos”, he said.
The federal government accuses Kanu of engaging in subversive activities that include incitement through television, radio and online broadcasts against Nigeria and state assets institutions.
The AGF added that Kanu instigated violence and killings, especially in the South-East.
The attacks, he noted, resulted in the loss of lives of civilians, policemen, military and paramilitary forces and destruction of civil institutions and symbols of authorities.
