Truetells Nigeria learnt that Taiwo, a younger sister to Nigerian singer, Dbanj, was found guilty of contempt of court on Monday and risks jail term in a divorce suit filed in Abuja.
It will be recalled that in suit No. GWD/ PET/25/21, the court granted Dotun and his estranged wife divided custody of the kids after Dotun applied for it in April 2022, and both parties initially complied.
Contrary to the Court order, Taiwo denied her estranged husband access to their children since December 2022 without any valid reason. As a result, Dotun sought legal redress, which led to a recent full-blown and heated social media exchange between them.
Delivering the judgment in the contempt proceedings against Taiwo Oyebanjo, the court ruled and found Taiwo guilty of disobeying the order of the court, declaring that her refusal to allow Do2dtun to access and custody of the children in December 2022 was disobedience to the Order of the Court.
The court also ordered Dbanj’s sister to pay the sum of N200,000 within 30 days or risk jail term until the fine is paid.
According to the Independent, a mild drama almost ensued after the judgment against Dotun’s estranged wife was delivered as her lawyers attempted to withdraw their representation on her behalf, but the matter was adjourned to December 11 for trial.
