Court Remands Popular Nigerian Journalist In Prison

Nigerian journalist, Agba Jalingo, has been remanded in prison as a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, ruled on the case filed against him by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.

Truetells Nigeria understands that Jalingo was accused of defaming Elizabeth Ayade, the wife of Frank Ayade, a sibling to Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade.

It could be recalled that Jalingo was arrested in August 2022 after police operatives laid siege to his Lagos residence for allegedly defaming the character of Elizabeth.

In the case filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja on December 6, 2022, the police claimed a publication by the journalist against Elizabeth was false and was released to cause her annoyance, ill will, and insult.

Though Jalingo was released later in the same month last year, the case against him is still very active.
