Court orders arrest of Governor Fubara’s Chief of Staff

A warrant for the arrest has been issued by a federal high court sitting in Abuja for Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state, over an alleged involvement in the burning of the State House of Assembly.

 

Justice Emeka Nwite on Wednesday, January 31, issued a warrant of arrest for Ehie who is also the immediate past Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, alongside five other persons based in Port Harcourt for allegedly participating in some criminal activities.

 

Those to be arrested alongside Governor Fubara’s CoS include Jinjiri Bala, Happy Benedict, Progress Joseph, Adokiye Oyagiri and Chibuike Peter also known as Rambo.

 

The warrant of arrest was issued following an ex-parte application brought before the Judge by the Inspector General of Police IGP. It was predicated on sections 37, 113, 114, 84 and 184 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 and section 35 of the 1999 Constitution as well as 32 of the Police Act 2020.
