A Chinese national has been accused of abandoning his Nigerian lover and their child in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria.
In a video posted by an online media platform, Yorùbáness, it was noted that the woman identified as Tope Iyabo and the Chinese man met at a company and started dating.
The two lovers had a son, and the Chinese man soon announced that he was no longer interested in the relationship and made an offer to buy the child from his mother.
Tope is seen in the video sitting with her child – who is of mixed race – on her lap.
“This young lady was impregnated by a Chinese expatriate, somewhere along Sagamu – Abeokuta expressway. The affair was blissful until it was time for him to go back to his country, he then demanded that she sell the baby to him, or else he wouldn’t fend for the baby.
“She declined to sell the baby and he has decided to cut off mother and child. What can be done about this ASAP?” the video was captioned.
According to the narrator, efforts to get the police involved had not been successful.
The narrator alleged that the abandonment of the Nigerian woman and her child by the Chinese man had made them homeless.
The narrator said, “This woman, we were working in the same company before. It was there that she and a Chinese man met. It was through that this child came to life. Not long afterwards, the Chinese man said he was not interested in this woman again but asked her to sell the child to him.
“We have dragged the matter to court and other places but they keep saying the same thing that it is until the child reaches 19 years old that the Chinese man can have custody of the child.”
He said the woman became homeless at a point but now staying with her sister.
“We went to court, police station and human rights organisations, but before we reached there, the Chinese man would have bribed them,” he added.
