Happy International Women’s Day!
This March 8th, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) proudly honors the resilience and invaluable contributions of women in the maritime sector. From firefighting and security to piloting and engineering, these remarkable women are excelling in roles that have historically been dominated by men, demonstrating exceptional capability and dedication.
In a statement, Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho emphasized the importance of gender equality within the organization. He highlighted his commitment to advancing women’s participation, noting that women currently occupy 60% of key roles among his aides and Technical Assistants, with men making up the remaining 40%. “This intentional step underscores NPA’s commitment to advancing women’s participation and success across the maritime industry,” Dantsoho remarked.
The NPA salutes the outstanding women who not only drive progress within the authority but also inspire change across the sector. Their achievements serve as a catalyst for breaking barriers and paving the way for a more equitable future in maritime.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let us recognize and support the ongoing efforts of women in maritime, promoting a landscape where equality and excellence thrive.
