Breaking the Glass Ceiling: FFN Hosts Live Fire Chat with Prominent Media Figures

The Female Freelancers Network (FFN) is set to host a live fire chat titled “The All-Round Journalists” on December 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. WAT via Zoom. This highly anticipated event will feature two esteemed guests: Lady Ejiro Umukoro, an award-winning author and publisher, and Ms. Bunmi Yekini, an internationally recognized journalist and publisher.

Aimed at empowering women in journalism, the fire chat will offer insights and personal stories from both speakers on their journeys in a predominantly male industry. Participants can expect a rich discussion that will address not only the obstacles faced by women but also effective strategies for overcoming these barriers. The conversation will also explore the evolving media landscape in Nigeria and the opportunities for freelancers to thrive in today’s digital world.

Elizabeth Osayande, the convener of FFN, emphasized the importance of such forums. “We believe this kind of forum will be an eye-opener for journalists at whatever level, especially females, to embrace their dynamism. Make them understand that they can achieve greatness despite the stereotypes and other antecedent challenges. We also believe it will serve as an avenue for connection and networking,” she stated.

The fire chat is open to journalism students, early-career reporters, freelance writers, and anyone interested in promoting gender diversity in the media. Registration is required to receive the access link, and interested participants can register here.
