BREAKING: Kogi State Deputy Governor Impeached

Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Mr Simon Achuba, has been impeached.

Mr Achuba was impeached by members of the Kogi State House of Assembly on Friday in Lokoja, the state capital.

The Majority Leader of the House disclosed this to reporters at the premises of the Assembly complex.

He explained that the report was accepted with lawmakers unanimously agreeing to impeach Achuba and “he, therefore, stands impeached.”

Mathew Kolawole, the speaker of the House, received the report on Friday following which the House went into a closed-door session to discuss its contents.

 

The committee, which was inaugurated on August 26, probed allegations of gross misconduct leveled against the Kogi Deputy Governor.

Before his impeachment, Simon Achuba accused  Governor Yahaya Bello of withholding his salaries and imprest since 2017.

However, the Kogi State Government dismissed the allegation as untrue during the hearing by the committee.
