Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has approved the appointment of a new Emir for the Rano Emirate Council.
The state government disclosed on Tuesday evening that Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa who was the District Head of Kibiya will now take over as the new Emir of Rano.
Inuwa succeeds the late Emir Tafida Abubakar Ila, who died of an undisclosed ailment on Saturday in Kano at the age of 74.
The late emir was reportedly rushed to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in a critical condition and was later referred to the Nasarawa Specialist Hospital where he eventually died hours later.
The emirates of Gaya, Rano, Karaye, and Bichi used to be districts under the Kano Emirate Council.
