BREAKING: FG Sets Date For WASSCE 2020 Amid Coronavirus In Nigeria

The  Federal Government on Monday announced that the West African Senior School certificate examination (WASSCE 2020) will hold from August 4th to September 5th 2020.

This online news medium understands that the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, announced this on Monday at the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja.

He said, “From the 4th of August to the 5th of September, please take note. Last week the Chairman of the PTF announced that school facilities will be available for those who want to go into revision classes.

“The idea here is that we have a whole month from now till then, those who can and those who are willing; the states who are willing should make their schools available for their children to revise.

“We have done the most we can with our representatives at WAEC and we have, this afternoon, confirmed that the dates allotted for the exams will be from the 4th of August through to the 5th of September,” the minister said on WASSCE 2020.

Meanwhile, this is coming 24hours after Nigeria has recorded new Coronavirus cases with the NCDC announcing 544 new coronavirus cases in NigeriaThe NCDC noted that of the 544 coronavirus cases recorded on Sunday evening, 199 were detected in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, Ebonyi-65 Oyo-47 Ondo-46 Ogun-31 Edo-30 FCT-28 Katsina-25 Plateau-15 Bayelsa-11 Kaduna-10 Adamawa-10 Akwa Ibom-8 Gombe-7 Kano-4 Taraba-3 Rivers-2 Abia-2 Ekiti-1, southwest Nigeria.

The NCDC tweeted: 544 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-199 Ebonyi-65 Oyo-47 Ondo-46 Ogun-31 Edo-30 FCT-28 Katsina-25 Plateau-15 Bayelsa-11 Kaduna-10 Adamawa-10 Akwa Ibom-8 Gombe-7 Kano-4 Taraba-3 Rivers-2 Abia-2 Ekiti-1 28,711 confirmed 11,665 discharged 645 deaths,” the tweet added.

Meanwhile the development means that Nigeria’s total confirmed cases of coronavirus have risen to twenty-eight thousand, seven hundred and eleven (28,711) with eleven thousand, six hundred and sixty-six (11,665) people discharged and six hundred and forty-five (645) deaths recorded so far.
