According to sources from the town who spoke to Newsflash Nigeria, the boys were trying to test the effectiveness of a spiritual bulletproof charm that they had acquired from somewhere.
Such charms are believed by some people to protect them from bullets and other weapons. However, the charm failed to work and the victim died on the spot.
The police from Aramoko Divisional Police Station have arrested the shooter and his father and are investigating the matter.
The body of the deceased has been taken to a nearby hospital for autopsy. The police spokesperson of Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu, could not be reached for comment.
This unfortunate incident highlights the dangers of believing in superstitions and playing with firearms.
It also raises questions about the security and safety of children in rural areas where guns are easily accessible.
We urge parents and guardians to educate their children about the risks of such practices and to keep their weapons away from them.
