The convener of Zamfara Youth Movement (ZYM) Alhaji Umar Abubakar has commedned the minister of state for defense, Dr Bello Matawalle’s N10million donation to the families affected by flood in Bauchi State.
He described the gesture as an exemplary demonstration of charity, empathy and humility worth learning from.
It is recalled that flood disaster ravaged villages across three Bauchi local government areas displacing several hundred people. Farmlands and valuables were also washed away. The flood was triggered by a heavy downpour that lasted for hours. This caused a massive flow of surface runoff water in the communities.
Reacting to minister’s kind gesture, Alhaji Abubakar in a statement on Sunday, noted that the commendation was not just about the amount “but the empathy, sense of commitment, as well as the humility of making the donation to those families in the communities, including Gamawa.”
He praised the minister’s commitment to humanity and selflessness in reaching out to those in need, adding, “Your very people-focused, compassionate and positive disposition has not only vindicated those of us who are your supporters but have validated President Bola Tinubu’s good sense of judgement in making you his cabinet member.
“Sir. You have also helped win many to your side, proving beyond doubt that you care about the underdogs in the society and that you are a leader who has the interest of the people at heart with an uncommon patriotism. It is my prayer that God Almighty will grant the victims all the succour needed and bless you more for making positive impacts in their lives.”
