Bandits Issue One-Week Ultimatum for N300m Ransom in Kwara

The Isapa community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State has been plunged into panic following a dire ultimatum issued by armed bandits. The gunmen, who are currently holding 10 residents captive, have demanded the payment of a N300 million ransom within one week to secure the release of the victims.

The ordeal began when the assailants invaded the community on November 25, 2025, abducting the victims during the attack. Since the incident, the kidnappers have opened lines of communication with community leaders to deliver their demands and threats.

According to reports, the bandits have warned that failure to meet the payment deadline will result in tragic consequences. They have specifically threatened to execute the current hostages and return to Isapa to launch a more deadly assault on the remaining residents.

Mr. A. Adeyeye, the head hunter for the Isapa community, confirmed the ongoing negotiations. He disclosed that the kidnappers initially demanded N500 million but eventually lowered the figure to N300 million. Despite the reduction, the community’s counter-offer was flatly rejected.

Recounting the chilling conversation with the abductors, Adeyeye said:

“The bandits called us on Sunday and said they had reduced the ransom to N300m. We pleaded with them to accept N5m, but they rejected our offer. They said they were giving us one week to meet their demand or else they would k!ll the abductees. They threatened to attack the community again and that this time, they would k!ll a lot of people. The bandits also claimed responsibility for the attack on the Ejiba community in Kogi State,” Adeyeye said.
