APC Postpones Governorship Campaign In Bayelsa Over Tinubu’s Absence

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has annouced the the postponement of its official flag-off of the November 11 gubernatorial election campaign.

Recall that the party earlier scheduled the flag-off of its campaign in Bayelsa for October 14, 2023.

The postponement was announced in a statement by the Director, Media and Publicity, Bayelsa APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Perry Tukuwei, explaining that postponement was due to some exigences from the office of the President Bola Tinubu, who would have loved to be present at the event.

While apologising for any difficulty caused by the postponement, the APC stated that a new date would be announced to all stakeholders, party faithfuls, and the general public soon.

The party also asked its members to stay strong and focused on the main goal of deposing the PDP-led government in the state.

Recall that some stakeholders in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had also faulted the governorship standard-bearer, Chief Timipre Sylva for naming himself the Director General of the campaign council.

Reacting to the constitution and inauguration of the campaign council, some stakeholders and chieftains of the party under the auspices of Bayelsa APC Integrity Group, said the development has vindicated the group who has accused the party’s flag bearer of running a one-man show in the party.

The reaction of the group, which is contained in a statement signed by its Coordinator Chief Ebipadeowei Oyinkuro, recalled that only a few years ago, APC was not only in the heart and mouth of the people of Bayelsa State but was also at the commanding height of goodwill in the State, regretting that weeks to the governorship election, all that has evaporated.

The statement said, “In the meantime, the campaign activities continue in Bayelsa central Senatorial District with Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA on Tuesday and Southern Ijaw Local Government Area will take its turn from Wednesday.”
