Some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, protested at the National Headquarters of the party over the ongoing party’s membership registration and revalidation exercise.
Truetells Nigeria reports that the protesters, Coalition of Political Action Group, asked the party national leadership to extend the ongoing exercise.
The protesters stormed the party’s secretariat in Abuja, by 10.30am in a sting operation that lasted for about 30 minutes, displaying posters with various inscriptions.
In a letter of appeal for an extension of the exercise signed by Habeeb Muttalib, and handed over to the National Secretary of the APC Caretaker Committee, Senator John Akpanudoehede, the group asked the APC to extend the exercise indefinitely.
It asked the National Working Committee of the party to immediately convene a meeting and extend the exercise scheduled to end in two days’ time, March 31, 2021.
The group said its request is predicated solely on the proven benefits of the exercise to the party’s numerical strength and political standing as a party and especially in areas where the APC has hitherto faced resistance, such as the South-east.
