The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has lost its senatorial candidate for Jigawa Central, Tijjani Ibrahim Kiyawa to death.
A family source that spoke with Daily Post disclosed that Kiyawa died on Saturday around 11 pm.
The APC candidate died in a hospital in the Federal Capital Territory after suffering from illness.
Kiyawa served as a member of the House of Representatives for Dutse and the Kiyawa Federal constituency from 2011-2015 under the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
He also contested in the governorship primary of the main opposition party in 2019 but lost to Aminu Ibrahim Ringim.
Kiyawa dumped PDP for APC where he got the senatorial ticket of the party for the Jigawa central in the 2023 election.
The APC chieftain’s death is coming a few days after the death of Jigawa State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Salisu Zakari.
The ruling party would have to conduct another primary to field a candidate for the slot left behind by Kiyawa.
