Some angry youths in Kano have booed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi on his way to the Emirs Palace shortly after he returned from his London trip.
The incident happened along Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital known as Bakin Asibiti.
The youths were chanting ‘Bamayi’. It took the intervention of security agencies to disperse the Youth .
“The youths were said to be angry with the Emir over his role in the removal of fuel subsidy from day one.
People did not care to even wave at him as there was a poor turn out in the mobilisation of people by Kano government officials,” a trader who pleaded for anonymity told this paper.
Sanusi who arrived in Nigeria from London via Lagos was welcomed at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport by his Chief of Staff, Munir Sanusi and Dan Isan Kano Kabiru Tijjani Hashim.
The Emir was in London to defend his PhD thesis on Islamic Law which he successfully did without correction.
Meanwhile, Sanusi who is enjoying the support of the Kano State government is losing popularity due to the current economic situation as an advocate of fuel subsidy removal.
15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero has also made his first trip on a private visit, while others said the visit was an official visit to attend the traditional leaders meeting in Abuja.
Bayero was said to be accompanied in a convoy to the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA, where he departed for Abuja on Friday.
The heavy security presence around the Nassarawa mini palace, which Bayero occupies, remains on standby in the area.
The court of appeal is yet to sit on the Emirate tussle before it after a Federal High court in Kano led by Justice Liman entertains the case.
