Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has strongly criticised the administration of Bola Tinubu, accusing it of failing in its primary duty to safeguard the lives of citizens.
TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that Amaechi made the remarks while reacting to the recent bombing incident in Maiduguri, Maiduguri, which has heightened concerns over worsening insecurity in the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the former minister described the current government as ineffective, alleging that it lacks the leadership capacity required to tackle the nation’s security challenges.
Amaechi lamented that Nigerians continue to live in fear and uncertainty, while those in power appear disconnected from the daily struggles of ordinary citizens. He argued that repeated attacks and loss of lives reflect a deeper failure of governance and accountability.
He further criticised what he described as the government’s slow and inadequate response to security threats, noting that affected communities are often left to grieve without meaningful action or reassurance from authorities.
Expressing sympathy with victims of the Maiduguri attack and their families, Amaechi said the tragedy underscores the urgent need for decisive leadership and concrete steps to address insecurity.
He maintained that Nigerians deserve protection, peace, and stability, warning that continued inaction could deepen public frustration and erode trust in leadership. Amaechi also stressed that citizens will not remain silent in the face of persistent insecurity, calling for greater responsibility from those in power.
