The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has announced his intention to seek re-election, emphasizing that his administration’s work remains incomplete.
Otti made the declaration at his country home in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Council, during a 10,000-strong solidarity march organized by stakeholders from the area, led by Labour Party House of Assembly candidate in the 2023 elections, Dannie Ubani.
The governor stated, “If I had completed the work I set out to do, there would be no reason for me to seek a second term. But there is still significant work to be done in transforming the state.”
While acknowledging the importance of opposition in a democracy, Otti criticized some elements for engaging in what he described as “politics of witchcraft,” dismissing them as insignificant and representing less than 5% of the state’s political landscape.
He stressed that constructive criticism is valuable only when it recognizes the achievements of his administration and the potential for further improvement, rather than ignoring tangible progress.
Otti also expressed gratitude to the people of Abia State for their ongoing support and specifically commended Mr. Dannie Ubani for organizing the rally.
