ADC Urges Tinubu to Return Amid Outrage Over Maiduguri Bombings

TRUETELLS Nigeria Reports: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned the deadly bomb explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State, which claimed at least 23 lives and left many others injured.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the opposition party expressed deep sympathy for the victims and their families, while questioning the Federal Government’s handling of the tragedy.

The ADC called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately return to the country and give urgent attention to the deteriorating security situation.

The party described the attack as heartbreaking, noting that residents of Maiduguri have endured years of insurgency and violence. It stressed that terrorism in any part of Nigeria is a threat to the entire nation.

While commending security personnel and emergency responders for their swift efforts in rescue operations, the ADC raised fresh concerns about the state of national security, warning that the resurgence of such attacks threatens the fragile stability the city had begun to experience.

The statement further criticised what it termed a lack of focused leadership, pointing out that the President was reportedly outside the country at the time of the incident. It also alleged that some senior government officials were preoccupied with political activities instead of addressing pressing security challenges.

According to the party, moments of national crisis demand full commitment from leadership, insisting that safeguarding lives and property must remain the government’s top priority.

The ADC urged the President to return without delay and demonstrate leadership in confronting the security crisis. It also called on the government to take responsibility for security lapses by compensating families of victims affected by such attacks.
