2027: NNPP Confirms Talks Between Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso; Public Announcement Expected Soon

Folashade Aliu, the 2023 National Campaign Secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and close aide to former presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, has confirmed ongoing discussions between Kwankwaso and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 general election.

Aliu, in an interview with ARISE Television, said a public decision on a possible alliance is expected in the near future. She noted that any collaboration would focus on the broader interest of Nigerians, with leadership positions determined on merit.

“Distinguished Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is not about himself; it’s about the people. Whoever joins forces will determine the right candidate for the appropriate position. We are also considering strategic interest in the South,” Aliu said.

Regarding the platform for a potential alliance, Aliu explained that consultations are ongoing. “It could be one supporting the other or a full partnership. The arrangement will be a strategic combination,” she added.

Aliu also addressed internal party disputes, dismissing claims from rival NNPP factions. She confirmed that suspensions and expulsions within the party have been legally upheld. “Those affected were suspended or expelled, and a judgment has upheld these actions,” she stated.

TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that the discussions between Obi and Kwankwaso signal continued alignment among key political actors as the 2027 elections approach.
