The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Wednesday vowed not to accept northern dominance in the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Wike and his allies have been calling for the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu over northern dominance.
The camp of the Rivers State Governor had insisted that the National Chairman of the party and the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar can not come from the same region.
The national chairman of the party, Ayu, presidential candidate, Atiku, Director General of the party’s presidential campaign, Aminu Tambuwal, who also doubles as the DG governors forum are all from the North.
Wike in his statement vowed that nobody can convince him to drop his advocacy for internal democracy in the main opposition party.
The Rivers State Governor pointed this out while hosting the candidates of the party and local government chairmen from Cross River State.
The PDP chieftains had met with Wike on Wednesday night at his residence in Port Harcourt.
Governor Wike during the meeting donated 25 buses to support their campaigns.
The PDP candidates in Cross River State were on a courtesy visit to Wike.
They commended Governor Wike for supporting the party in their state since the state Governor, Ben Ayade dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Wike also promised to support PDP in Cross Rivers, he charged the candidates in the state to be deliberate about winning the elections.
