Four persons were left injured and are currently being treated in a hospital after an appendage of a two-story hotel collapsed in the Ada-George area of Port Harcourt, on Thursday, June 29.
The two-storey building belonging to 1708 Hotel, Rumuoke by Okilton Junction, off Ada George, collapsed when some residents of the area were still asleep, and occupants of the building who were mainly site workers, were getting ready to resume for the day’s job.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Emeka Woke, said an investigation will be launched to determine the remote cause of the collapse. He said that the collapsed building has been sealed off pending investigation.
He however, noted that rescue operations were ongoing at the site, basically to evacuate the rubbles.
