Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (BASPHCDA), Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, on Saturday announced that 17 inmates of a correctional facility in the state tested positive to COVID-19.
Mohammed speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi, also disclosed that 51 medical officers have so far tested positive for coronavirus in the state.
He explained that an isolation centre has been established in the correctional facility to ensure that no inmate escapes.
“51 medical personnel have so far been infected in the state and out of this figure, one was confirmed dead.
“Also, we have 17 inmates who have been confirmed positive for Coronavirus
Fourteen of them are currently on treatment in the isolation centre inside the facility,’’ Mohammed added.
So far, Bauchi State has recorded 402 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 11 deaths.
