About 1.5 million beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s N-Power programme have issued a 10-day ultimatum to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, demanding the immediate payment of outstanding stipends owed to them.
The beneficiaries warned that failure to settle the arrears within the stipulated period could lead to a withdrawal of their electoral support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that the warning was contained in a press statement released on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The statement was signed by the National Chairman of N-Power Beneficiaries Nationwide, Abdulrahaman Ibrahim Maifada, and the National Publicity Secretary, Adeshina A. Adex.
According to the statement, a total of 1,495,571 Nigerians are affected by the unpaid stipends under the government’s youth empowerment initiative.
The beneficiaries accused the Federal Government of neglecting them despite the services they rendered under the programme, noting that the prolonged delay in payment has subjected many participants to severe economic hardship.
They said the failure to pay the stipends for more than three years has forced many beneficiaries into poverty, debt, and difficult living conditions.
“We, the 1,495,571 N-Power beneficiaries across Nigeria, wish to formally express our deep frustration, anger, and disappointment over the Federal Government’s continued refusal to pay our outstanding stipends,” the statement read.
The group stressed that the stipends were not charity but legitimate payments for services they had already rendered to the country through a government initiative.
“Let it be made absolutely clear: these stipends are not gifts or handouts. They are payments for services already rendered to the nation under a government programme,” the statement added.
The beneficiaries further alleged that repeated appeals and complaints made to government authorities over the years had been ignored.
Despite what they described as patience and restraint on their part, they said the continued silence from the authorities had become unacceptable.
They warned that if the government fails to clear all outstanding payments within the next ten days, they would take what they described as a “decisive political stand” against the ruling party.
“If all outstanding stipends owed to the 1,495,571 N-Power beneficiaries are not fully paid within the next ten days, we will collectively take a decisive political stand. We will not vote for the APC at any level of government in future elections,” the statement declared.
The group added that they would no longer support any political party or leadership that had made their lives difficult through neglect, broken promises, and economic hardship over the past three years.
They described their position as a legitimate democratic response from nearly 1.5 million Nigerians whose livelihoods and dignity have been ignored.
The beneficiaries also called on the Federal Government to urgently address the issue in order to rebuild trust among young Nigerians who joined the programme in good faith.
“The clock starts now,” the statement concluded.
TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that the N-Power programme was introduced as part of the Federal Government’s social investment initiatives aimed at reducing youth unemployment and improving skills development across the country.
